COURSES I TEACH
Negotiation Analysis and Practice
A comprehensive set of topics in the field of negotiation - both in 'open' programmes and customised solutions. All are focused on giving the participants the tools they will need to more effectively leverage their own negotiation experience to become more sophisticated, strategic and successful negotiators. I focus on applicable conceptual frameworks to identify types of negotiators and negotiations; a true blend of economics, psychology and game theory.
Executive Decision Making
When people make strategic decisions they can often be the victims of predictable errors. These errors happen not because people are not smart enough or fail to make the time and effort to try to get things right (though all those things are sometimes true). Rather, many of these errors can be the result of how our mind works. In all of my decision-making teaching, I focus not only on the types of errors we routinely make but on the importance of the leader as a decision architect.
Evidence-Based Management
We have access to more and more data, leading to many different courses and trainings on data analytics. Yet, most senior leaders do not need to be analysts. They do need to be able to be intelligent drivers and consumers of others' quantitative work. I focus on ways leaders can make their own implicit assumptions and theories about their own business explicit. This, in turn, allows for testing of those ideas to improve our understanding and direct our attention.
Leadership
The best leaders know how to recognised different situations and adapt their leadership style to fit the conditional need. Different roles, seniority levels and follower characteristics require different approaches and behaviours. To effectively achieve things through the work of others, you must be able to equip them with the competencies, clarity of vision and decision making power they need to succeed. I focus on giving leaders tools and techniques to help accomplish this goal.
